About the tour

Earthquakes, deep water and strong winds were only some of the challenges that made the construction of a bridge in western Greece an impossible project… impossible? Not to those engineers! The Rion-Antirion Bridge is the longest multi-span cable-stay bridge in the world with its 2,252 meters continuous and fully suspended deck. Having received nine International Awards by the scientific community, it is a marvel of engineering as multiple challenges of nature were surpassed in unprecedented ways turning the bridge into a traveller destination. Join Ioanna to discover how a centuries-old dream became a reality while admiring the wonderful views of the gulfs of Corinth and Patra!

I enjoy architecture and always found bridges intriguing but how they are built and work is a mystery to me and I’m not an engineer and it be hard to explain the technology of bridges. However, Ioanna made something that is so difficult, simple to explain and to understand. She did a great job in her presentation on this bridge

My first tour with Ioanna this morning to see and learn about the gorgeous Rion-Antirion Bridge. We have the Golden Gate Bridge but that is dwarfed by this structure and Ioanna's description of construction and current usage of the bridge was excellent! The location is beautiful as well. i like to say that Greece is my Heaven on Earth and now have an additional location to visit when I return. Thank You, Ioanna, for the most interesting tour.
