A hard look at life under the communist regime

About the tour

Stalin’s communism began to spread after WWII and by 1948 it would force it’s way into Czechoslovakia. It would take 40 years before the country was able to rise out of the nightmare regime and become a free country again. Many people know that communism existed but few understand why it happened in this country. How did the only central European country to retain it’s democracy between the two world wars fall behind what Winston Churchill called, "the Iron Curtain". On this tour we take a hard look at the communist situation, how did it spread and why it was finally defeated. Who were the hero’s who fought, and in many cases died, to free their county.

I loved this tour! It took a look at a hard subject and very difficult time in history but showcased stories of bravery and love of country. The guide did an excellent job. This was a tour that I would love to book again.

Great pre-tour chat, very engaging. We tour beautiful Prague seeing incredible and varied architecture but the narrative about how communism affected this area was outstanding. Lots of history in an hour. Well done.

That was such an interesting and yet puzzling tour. I am learning more about Communism through people in China and Viet Nam, and now Berlin and Prague. It's great to see the different perspectives. The tour included beautiful architecture, but the narration was the very best part. So much history condensed into this tour. Top notch!
