About the tour

Join Ashley as he explores St Lucia and the surrounding area, from what the houses look like, what animals are roaming around the town, what keeps the people busy during the day, and food that is typically South African. It is your chance to see what South Africa is like, ask questions and interact with Ashley. The tours will vary depending on what's going on in our small town!

Meet Ashley

What Ashley doesn't know about life in the South African bush isn't worth knowing! With academic, vocational, and practical qualifications he has a wealth of knowledge and personal experiences that he loves to share. Spending time out and about in the bush means everyday is different! The thrill being, you never know what you will encounter or discover until you come across it, be it hippos, zebra, dung beetles or a rare plant species or an unusual eel. Home for Ashley is a small coastal town, St Lucia, that is uniquely situated within a UNESCO World Heritage Site - the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, on the north-eastern coast of South Africa. It is a haven for wildlife, marine life and unique flora and small fauna. With a focus on the wildlife, all Ashley's tour offer an insight into all creatures, great and small, and you will be surprised how interesting the bushveld can actually be! Join Ashley on a tour, away from the hustle and bustle of urban life, to explore the best that Mother Nature has to offer. Ashley has been guiding since Jun 2010

Thanks for cycling through the areas to see hippos. Also, you found your dog and she is a good beagle tracker for sniffing animals.

Great tour of a town on a wildlife reserve by bicycle, always fun wondering what animals will appear.

I usually join Ashley in tours in the bushes or river, and it was really different to see him in a more urban setting. Nice stroll on his bike as he took us around where he lives...see the houses, the neighbours, the buildings, and his lovely dog! I was surprised to see many vervet monkeys around. Excellent! Thanks Ash!

Ash is one of my favorite guides, and this tour gives you a taste of a stroll through Saint Lucia. It was wonderful to accompany Ash on his bike, see the streets, the market, the wildlife, and the sunset. Thank you, Ash for opening up to us a window into daily life in Saint Lucia. I loved this tour and will continue to look for any other tours you offer.
