About the tour

As the day draws to an end, join me, all aboard…a hot air balloon as we take an evening flight across the Netherlands. If the weather has been kind to the growers, and we have the right wind, we should see fields of colourful tulips spread beneath us in a breathtaking explosion of pinks, reds, purples, yellows and oranges. But even with the 'wrong wind, we will still experience some amazing views across the Dutch landscape, and depending on the wind direction, we may see a windmill or two. The sun will be setting whilst we are in the balloon, so there’s a chance that we might get a lovely sunset. Although it is the Netherlands, so there’s no guarantee of clear skies, but the view should be spectacular anyway. This will be a calming, peaceful tour, as the wind softly carries us along, with just the occasional sound of the burners keeping us afloat, breaking the silence. This tour should be a unique experience as we will see the Netherlands from a totally different perspective. So take a hot air balloon flight with me as we silently drift over the fields and into the night. (This tour very much depends on the weather, as the balloon can only fly in certain conditions. This being the Netherlands, it may result in rescheduling)

Meet Stephan

Stephan

Stephan is a real Dutchie, he was born in Delft (the city of Vermeer), grown up in Gouda (the cheese city), studied in Leiden (city of Rembrandt) and he lived in Rotterdam (the harbour city) before moving to our capital Amsterdam in 2006. After a career in technology as an Online Strategist, he decided to leave behind the corporate world to start guiding visitors of Amsterdam and started his own private tour agency, Amsterdam Experiences. That’s when he discovered that walking and cycling around the city with international visitors is a lot more fun than a desk job! As a guide, Stephan loves to show his virtual guests the hidden gems of Amsterdam through the eyes of a local. He has a passion for telling stories about Dutch history and culture. Stephan is very enthusiastic about the Netherlands and also guides tours in Delft, Utrecht, Rotterdam, Gouda, Leiden and Den Hague. Stephan’s tours cover a wide range of topics, whether that be sensitively tackling difficult subjects, such as Anne Frank and Jewish history of Amsterdam. However, he is equally comfortable being spontaneous, whether visiting goats in a goat farm to riding his orange flowerbike around with the flowerbike man himself. Stephan also now has tours in Belgium, covering Antwerp, Bruges and Ghent. So join him on the bike or by foot, and see the highlights of the Netherlands or even perhaps Belgium.
