About the tour

Join Serge on this 60 minutes walking tour that researches the history and monuments of the ancient Fortress of Belgrade. It is a unique journey from the ancient past to a modern time. Little is known that the hill with a fortress on top and a stunning view at the confluence of the Sava and the Danube rivers has been constantly inhabited during the last three thousand years. Since the Celts and Romans, It's been seen as the most important strategic spot in the northern Balkans. Situated at the very border between Eastern, Western and Islamic civilizations, the fate of the city was often shaped by their titanic clashes over a very long time. Perhaps too often if you ask Belgraders. As a descendant of families living in Belgrade since the 19th century, I developed a deep understanding of this important geopolitical crossroads. My mission, and passion, is to unlock its complexity and uniqueness.

My 2nd time such a great tour. So much history here at the Fort, hard to absorb it all in one trip. Taking notes so I can remember it all. Your tour was wonderful.
