This new episode of the Jewish Odessa tour series takes you to the city’s Third Jewish Cemetery. The only city’s Jewish cemetery survived till our time, it makes for a very interesting sight. Founded right after World War 2 on the city outskirts, it’s one of the largest Jewish cemeteries in Ukraine with a territory of 24 hectares (59 acres). Why were the Roma people buried in this cemetery? What happened to the city’s first two Jewish cemeteries? Who moved the 1905 pogrom victims’ memorial to this cemetery? Olga will answer these questions and share with you interesting stories about this place and the modern Jewish community. Special note: this episode of the Jewish Odessa tour includes only a visit to the Jewish Cemetery. Located on the city’s outskirts, the cemetery is surrounded by an industrial area and roads.
