Ancient Paphos and the Cult to Aphrodite
The Cypriot town of Paphos, located at the southwestern corner of the island, is a serial UNESCO site with several locations. The old town of Paphos or Kato Paphos is one of them; another is its ancient necropolis known as the Tombs of the Kings (the focus of my other tour - The Kings' Tombs where No Kings Were Buried).
Our path will pass through the partially restored House of Theseus and we shall stroll over exquisite Hellenic and Roman mosaics where we might test our memories of ancient Greek myths and legends. Parts of the ancient city will spring on one side, with the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean on the other. We shall end our walk at the Saranta Kolones (Fourty Columns) Castle.
Can't promise to show you all 40 of them, but we'll give it a try.
