The Island of Palaces and the Bastille Square
The island of Palaces was the nickname of the Saint Louis island located just behind the Cité island and Notre Dame cathedral. Urbanized during the 1600’s the island contains so many palaces that it has become nowadays one of the most expensive part of Paris to live but also one of the most beautiful along the Seine river.
With only 4000 inhabitants, it is like a village and with its beautiful aristocratic private mansions one of the most sought after location in Paris.
From the island, we’ll join the right bank and will discover the Bastille Square where the Revolution started on July 14th, 1789. Your guide will tell you what provoked the Revolution and what happened during this fascinating period that changed France for ever.
